Swan.my.id - Jakarta, ASUS Googlebook has appeared in a new set of leaked renders ahead of its official introduction. The images reveal a slim clamshell design, a dedicated Google key, and the Glowbar lighting feature associated with the new Googlebook category.
The leak offers a closer look at ASUS’s first-generation Googlebook device. Google previously introduced Googlebook as a new laptop category designed to combine the Android and ChromeOS experience with artificial intelligence features powered by Gemini.
According to a GSM Arena report, the latest renders show a conventional laptop design. The device uses a standard clamshell form, allowing the display to open and close like a typical notebook.
ASUS Googlebook Shows a Distinctive Glowbar
ASUS appears to use a dark gray finish for the laptop body. The ASUS logo sits in the center of the display lid, while a color-changing light bar is positioned directly above it. This feature is known as the Glowbar.
The Glowbar is one of the most visible design elements on Googlebook devices. It is not merely a decorative feature, but also appears to serve as a visual identity for the product category. Similar elements have been spotted on Googlebook devices developed by Acer and Lenovo.
Its presence across multiple brands suggests that the Glowbar could become a shared design characteristic throughout the Googlebook ecosystem. However, Google and the manufacturers have not fully explained all of its functions.
Dedicated Google Key Appears on the Keyboard
The keyboard contains another notable detail. ASUS appears to place a key marked with the letter “G” to the left of the Alt key. Google and ASUS have not officially confirmed what the button will do.
The dedicated key may connect to Google services and features that form an important part of the Googlebook experience. Its placement also reinforces the laptop’s focus on Google’s ecosystem.
The renders show a large touchpad without physical buttons. Speaker grilles sit beside the keyboard, while the display uses relatively thin bezels. The camera also appears to protrude slightly from the upper bezel, making the camera module more visible.
Cooling Hardware Appears Inside the Laptop
Images showing the inside of the ASUS Googlebook provide a glimpse of its cooling system. A fan and heat pipe can be seen beneath the laptop’s body.
The active cooling system may indicate that ASUS designed the device to handle more demanding processor workloads. Still, the company has not announced the chipset or processor that will power the laptop.
Other key specifications also remain unknown. ASUS and Google have yet to disclose the RAM capacity, storage, display size and type, or battery capacity. Pricing has not been announced either.
Googlebook Focuses on Gemini and Android Integration
Google has said that Gemini will play an important role in the Googlebook experience. The artificial intelligence integration is expected to distinguish the category from conventional laptops that mainly rely on standard ChromeOS functions.
Googlebook will also include features such as Magic Pointer, which is designed to help users interact with elements on the screen. Another feature, Quick Access, will allow users to access files from an Android phone more conveniently through the laptop.
In addition, Googlebook will support Android applications. This means users will not be limited to web-based or ChromeOS applications and can also use apps familiar from Android devices.
Google has confirmed that Googlebook preorders will begin on September 21, 2026. More details about ASUS’s device may emerge as the preorder period approaches.
With its Glowbar, dedicated Google key, Gemini integration, and Android support, the ASUS Googlebook presents a different direction for Google-focused laptops. Its overall appeal, however, will depend on the official specifications and pricing that remain undisclosed.
