Swan.my.id - Jakarta, Chery will officially launch the iCar V27 Long-Range Edition in China on September 30, 2026. The large, boxy SUV brings updates focused on driving range, cabin comfort, and smart technology.
The model carries the iCar V27 name in China. Chery introduced the Long-Range Edition after V27 sales declined for four consecutive months in the domestic market.
Chery has not announced the price of the new variant. For comparison, the current iCar V27 lineup includes three versions with prices ranging from 169,800 yuan to 196,800 yuan.
iCar V27 Long-Range Edition Expands the Existing Lineup
The current lineup consists of the Falcon 500 with rear-wheel drive, the Falcon 500 with all-wheel drive, and the range-topping Falcon 700. The upcoming Long-Range Edition will give buyers another option with greater overall driving capability.
The iCar V27 uses a monocoque structure. Its body measures 4,909 millimeters long, while the total length reaches 5,055 millimeters when the exterior-mounted spare tire enters the calculation.
The SUV measures 1,976 millimeters wide and up to 1,894 millimeters tall. Meanwhile, its wheelbase spans 2,910 millimeters. These dimensions give the model a substantial road presence and a spacious foundation for its cabin.
EREV System Delivers Up to 1,230 Kilometers
The iCar V27 relies on an Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) system. A 1,500 cc turbocharged gasoline engine works as a generator, while electric motors drive the wheels. The gasoline engine produces 141 hp.
In the rear-wheel-drive version, a single electric motor delivers 248 hp. The all-wheel-drive version uses two electric motors with a combined output of 449 hp.
Every current variant uses a 34.3 kWh LFP battery. The rear-wheel-drive model covers 210 kilometers in electric-only driving under the CLTC test cycle, or 150 kilometers under WLTC.
The all-wheel-drive model records 200 kilometers under CLTC and 145 kilometers under WLTC. When the generator joins the electric system, the total claimed range reaches 1,230 kilometers under CLTC.
Designed for Urban Roads and Rough Terrain
Chery also equips the V27 with specifications aimed at challenging terrain. The SUV has a 24-degree approach angle and a 23-degree departure angle. Its water-wading capability reaches 600 millimeters.
The body records a torsional rigidity rating of 32,186 Nm per degree. In addition, the combined powertrain supports driving-assistance features for both urban roads and highways.
The Long-Range Edition therefore combines an electric driving system with a gasoline generator. This setup can reduce concerns about long-distance travel while retaining the response of electric motors.
iCar V27 Has Reached Indonesia Without a Price
Chery has already introduced the iCar V27 in Indonesia. However, the company has not revealed its selling price in the country.
The China launch will provide the first official details about the Long-Range Edition, including its pricing and final market positioning. Until then, the model stands out through its extended range, boxy SUV design, and EREV powertrain.
