Honda Expands Electric Motorcycle Support Through Dealers and Battery Services

Swan.my.id - Jakarta, PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) is developing a broader Honda electric motorcycle ecosystem in Indonesia to support the growing use of electric two-wheelers. The company is preparing not only electric motorcycle products, but also sales, charging, after-sales, and battery management services.

AHM Marketing Director Octavianus Dwi said Honda offers consumers several electric motorcycle options, including different charging methods. Customers can charge the battery directly on the motorcycle or choose a battery-swapping system, depending on the available product and their daily needs.

According to Octavianus, the ecosystem aims to make electric motorcycles more practical for everyday use. Honda wants consumers to feel confident not only when purchasing an electric motorcycle, but also when they need maintenance, emergency assistance, or battery-related services.

Honda Relies on Its Extensive Dealer Network

Honda is using its existing sales network to support electric motorcycle distribution across Indonesia. Octavianus said AHM has nearly 1,700 sales networks outside its main network, with coverage that reaches almost all regions of the country.

This network gives consumers access to electric motorcycle information and services in more locations. As a result, Honda hopes electric motorcycles will not remain concentrated only in major cities.

Dealers also form part of Honda’s charging support. The company is preparing portable chargers at selected network locations through cooperation with business partners. Consumers can use these facilities to charge their motorcycles when necessary.

After-Sales Services Support Electric Motorcycle Users

Besides sales and charging facilities, Honda is strengthening after-sales support for electric motorcycle owners. AHM has prepared more than 3,000 workshop networks across Indonesia, including emergency road assistance services.

These services are intended to address consumer concerns about maintenance and support after purchase. Honda considers after-sales care and customer service important parts of building trust in electric vehicles.

With workshop coverage and emergency assistance, users can receive support when they face problems during daily travel. This approach also helps Honda provide a more complete ownership experience instead of focusing only on the vehicle itself.

Several Charging and Battery Options

Honda provides several methods for charging and managing electric motorcycle batteries. One option allows users to charge the battery directly while it remains installed on the motorcycle.

Another option allows users to remove the battery and exchange it through a battery-swapping system. Honda also offers a portable charger for removable batteries, giving users greater flexibility over where they charge their vehicles.

Honda dealers can support these options because the company has prepared its network for consumer charging needs. The availability of different methods may help users choose a system that fits their home conditions, travel patterns, and access to charging facilities.

Honda Prepares Battery Waste Management

The Honda electric motorcycle ecosystem also includes battery management after the battery reaches the end of its service life. Octavianus said AHM has a responsibility to manage battery waste through the concepts of recharge, reuse, and recycle.

Honda plans to collect used batteries and ensure that the recycling process does not cause environmental pollution. The company is also working with certified recycling partners that have expertise in battery processing.

This responsibility forms an important part of electric vehicle development. Battery management can help reduce environmental risks while supporting a more sustainable vehicle ecosystem.

Building Wider Confidence in Electric Motorcycles

Honda’s strategy combines product choices with a wider network of dealers, workshops, charging facilities, emergency assistance, and battery recycling. The company expects this approach to reduce concerns about using electric motorcycles in different parts of Indonesia.

By expanding support through existing infrastructure, Honda is seeking to make electric two-wheelers more accessible. The company’s focus now extends from selling electric motorcycles to supporting their use throughout the ownership cycle.
