Swan.my.id - Jakarta, Huawei has officially introduced the Mobile WiFi 5 eSIM Edition, a portable hotspot that supports embedded SIM connectivity without requiring a physical SIM card. The device carries the model number E5586-822-E and is currently available for the Chinese market.
The new hotspot is designed for users who need a compact internet connection while traveling or working outside the home. It weighs 96 grams and measures 13.7 millimeters in thickness. Huawei says the device is 15% thinner than its previous model, making it suitable for a pocket or a small compartment in a bag.
Its main feature is eSIM support for China Mobile and China Unicom. By default, the device can automatically switch between the two operators based on which network provides a stronger signal. Users can also insert a physical SIM card when using a standard data plan, although the device does not support IoT SIM cards.
Huawei Mobile WiFi 5 eSIM Focuses on Flexible Connectivity
The portable hotspot uses Wi-Fi 2.4GHz connectivity and does not support the 5GHz band. Its theoretical transmission speed reaches up to 300 Mbps. Huawei also claims download performance is 30% faster than the third-generation model.
However, actual performance can vary depending on the location and the level of interference in the surrounding area. The 2.4GHz band is commonly used by many wireless devices, so competing signals may affect the connection. Despite that limitation, the hotspot can connect with up to 16 devices at the same time.
Battery Supports Up to Nine Hours of Use
The device includes a 2,400mAh battery that provides around eight to nine hours of continuous use on a single charge. Charging takes place through a USB-C port, giving users a more widely adopted connection for powering the hotspot.
Huawei has not positioned the device as a high-end wireless router. Instead, its compact size, eSIM capability, and automatic operator switching make it more suitable for portable connectivity. The 2.4GHz-only configuration keeps its wireless feature set relatively standard.
Data Plans Managed Through Huawei Smart Life
Device management and data-plan purchases are handled through the Huawei Smart Life application. The app displays available data packages, current usage, and the expiration date of each package.
Huawei also warns users to handle eSIM profiles carefully. Once the service is activated, the assigned number cannot be rewritten to the device. Deleting or disabling the SIM data will permanently remove that number.
The Huawei Mobile WiFi 5 eSIM Edition is introduced at 269 yuan in Cyan, while its suggested retail price is 299 yuan. The company has not indicated availability for markets outside China.
