Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Balances Strong Performance and Practicality

Swan.my.id - Jakarta, Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid brings together strong performance, fuel efficiency, a distinctive boxy design, and a spacious three-row cabin. The combination gives this mid-size SUV a character that stands apart from many competitors.

Hyundai offers the hybrid model in three variants: Prime, Calligraphy, and XRT. Each variant carries the same central appeal, namely a turbocharged hybrid powertrain paired with practical features for family use and longer trips.

The Santa Fe Hybrid measures 4,830 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,720 mm high. Its 2,815 mm wheelbase supports the SUV’s large stance while creating useful space inside the cabin. The boxy styling may divide opinion, but it gives the vehicle a bold and adventure-ready appearance.

Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Offers a Spacious Three-Row Cabin

One of the model’s strongest points is its cabin space. The third row remains comfortable for adult passengers, rather than functioning only as an occasional seating area. USB Type-C ports are available across all three rows, allowing passengers to charge their devices without competing for access.

The luggage compartment provides 628 liters of capacity with the third-row seats in use. Folding the second-row seats increases the available space to 1,949 liters. The second row can also be folded electrically using a button located on the right-side D-pillar.

Comfort equipment includes a panoramic sunroof and premium seats with ventilation. The Calligraphy and XRT variants add second-row captain seats with electric adjustment. Hyundai also equips the exterior with a hidden assist grip on the pillars, which helps users reach the roof rail when carrying extra equipment.

Turbo Hybrid Powertrain Delivers Responsive Acceleration

The Santa Fe Hybrid uses a 1.6-liter T-GDi turbo engine combined with an electric motor. The system produces a combined output of 235 PS, or 231.78 DK, with 367 Nm of torque. The vehicle reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 9 seconds and has a top speed of 190 km/h.

The gasoline engine produces 177.5 DK at 5,500 rpm and 266 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 1.49 kWh lithium-ion battery sits beneath the driver’s seat. Electric motor assistance makes the response feel immediate and quiet, particularly during overtaking and stop-and-go traffic.

Fuel Efficiency Supports Daily Use

The SUV offers Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes. During city driving, fuel consumption ranges from 13.6 to 14.8 kilometers per liter. On an intercity route at a constant 80 km/h, using Eco mode and Smart Cruise Control, consumption reached 20.2 kilometers per liter.

Hyundai recommends gasoline with a minimum RON rating of 91. The vehicle can also use fuel containing up to 10 percent ethanol, or E10.

Safety Technology and Driving Character

Hyundai SmartSense provides active safety assistance, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Smart Cruise Control. The latter can be activated with a single button. Hyundai Bluelink also allows owners to monitor and start the vehicle remotely through a smartphone application.

Some assistance systems may feel sensitive in certain situations. During testing in Surabaya, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist were deactivated because of their sensitivity. The reverse autonomous braking system could also activate suddenly when a parking attendant appeared behind the vehicle.

MacPherson struts at the front and independent multi-link suspension at the rear support the SUV’s handling. The 20-inch wheels and 255/45R20 Kumho Ecsta PS71 tires create a slightly firm ride, although comfort remains suitable for daily use.

The long wheelbase and hybrid component layout help the Santa Fe Hybrid stay stable through corners and medium-speed maneuvers. Overall, the model offers a balanced package for buyers seeking a powerful, efficient, and spacious three-row SUV with distinctive styling.

In Surabaya, the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid is priced from Rp831.1 million to Rp950.3 million on the road. Its combination of performance, efficiency, cabin practicality, and bold design makes it a strong option in the mid-size hybrid SUV segment.
