Swan.my.id - Jakarta, JAECOO Indonesia has introduced the JAECOO J5 EV Genuine Body Kit, an official accessory developed with input from customers through the J5 EV Co-Creation program at IIMS 2026.
The company previously presented the body kit as part of the JAECOO J5 EV bundling program at GIIAS 2026. At that stage, customers could not purchase the accessory separately.
JAECOO introduced the accessory during the JAECOO Weekend Drive: J5 EV Co-Creation, JAECOO Genuine for You event at The Terrace, Gatot Subroto, Jakarta, on September 26, 2026. The event also brought together around 100 customer-owned JAECOO J5 EV units that had received various modifications.
JAECOO Hands Over Body Kits to Customers
The Jakarta gathering marked the handover of the JAECOO J5 EV Genuine Body Kit to 10 JAECOO J5 EV customers. The moment highlighted the company’s effort to connect its official accessories with the personal style preferences of its customer community.
Alexander Haimir, Brand Manager of OMODA & JAECOO Indonesia, said personalization forms part of the customer journey with JAECOO. Through the Co-Creation program, the company also wants to include customer voices in its product development process.
“Personalization is part of the customer journey with JAECOO,” Alexander said during his opening speech. The company uses the program to understand how customers view the J5 EV and how they want to express that view through vehicle design.
In addition to the handover session, the event featured a talk show with the National Modificator & Aftermarket Association, or NMAA. The discussion explored the development of modification culture and the role of vehicles as a form of personal expression.
Customer Input Shapes the J5 EV Design
JAECOO introduced the J5 EV Co-Creation program at IIMS 2026. The initiative involved 1,126 respondents, including prospective customers and existing J5 EV owners.
Participants shared their views on several design elements. These included body kit styling, roof color options, the instrument panel, and wheel and tire combinations.
The responses showed that sporty and premium character emerged as the two impressions most strongly associated with the preferred J5 EV designs. JAECOO then considered those findings while developing the Genuine Body Kit.
As a result, the accessory represents more than a visual upgrade. It also reflects the design direction that customers supported through the Co-Creation survey. However, the available information does not detail the body kit’s individual components or technical specifications.
Co-Creation Continues Beyond Indonesia
JAECOO’s Co-Creation approach forms part of the brand’s wider global customer engagement efforts. The company began this journey at the International User Summit in Wuhu, China, in October 2025.
JAECOO plans to hold another International User Summit in China in October 2026. The event will continue the company’s efforts to gather user perspectives and connect them with future product development.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta event formed part of JAECOO’s activities ahead of the Indonesia Modification & Lifestyle Expo, or IMX, 2026. The connection with the modification community gives the J5 EV Genuine Body Kit a broader context within Indonesia’s growing automotive lifestyle scene.
JAECOO Teases J5 EV Anniversary Program
As the J5 EV approaches its first year in Indonesia, JAECOO also teased the J5 EV Anniversary Program. The program will include several customer support services.

- Free pick-up and drop-off services.
JAECOO has not yet announced the complete details of the anniversary program. The company said it would reveal further information soon.
For now, the JAECOO J5 EV Genuine Body Kit shows how customer feedback can influence an official accessory. The initiative also strengthens the relationship between JAECOO, its owners, and Indonesia’s modification community.
