The six working areas included two direct-offer blocks, Sapukala and Natuna D-Alpha. Four other areas were offered through a regular tender based on the 2025 study areas: Bengara II, Pesut Mahakam, Puri, and Rupat.
Nations Petroleum’s winning bid places the company among the investors selected to participate in Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas sector. The commitment announced for Natuna D-Alpha covers the initial three-year period of the working area.
According to Arsari Group’s official website, Nations Petroleum invests in advanced extraction and recovery technologies. The company says its objective is to improve efficiency, optimize resources, and contribute to a more secure energy future.
Hashim’s Experience in the Oil and Gas Industry
Hashim said his involvement in the upstream oil and gas industry began in 1994. He described his business journey as including exploration activities across several continents, giving him experience with the operational challenges and risks of the international energy industry.
“Apart from being an oil and gas businessman, I have had an oil and gas business since 1994. So I have 32 years of experience in oil and gas. I also have experience outside Indonesia,” Hashim said at The 50th IPA Convention & Exhibition at ICE BSD, Tangerang, as quoted on Friday, September 18, 2026.
The Djojohadikusumo family’s oil and gas business has previously reached Central Asia and the United States. Hashim mentioned Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and California as areas where his companies had held concessions and operated actively.
He also highlighted legal certainty, political stability, and competitive fiscal rules as three key factors supporting successful oil and gas investment. In his view, these factors are important for attracting more global investors to Indonesia.
Arsari Group’s Other Strategic Investments
Beyond oil and gas, Arsari Group has expanded into several strategic sectors, including technology and telecommunications. The group is listed as one of the shareholders of PT Indokripto Koin Semesta Tbk (COIN) through its investment entity, PT Arsari Nusa Investama.
Arsari Group Deputy President Director and Operations Director Aryo P.S. Djojohadikusumo said the investment reflects the group’s support for Indonesia’s digital transformation. He added that Arsari shares a vision with COIN and its subsidiaries, PT Central Finansial X (CFX) and PT Kustodian Koin Indonesia (ICC), which are licensed and supervised by the Financial Services Authority.
The group also has an indirect interest in PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (WIFI) through PT Arsari Sentra Data. WIFI provides advertising services, digital products and services, and fiber-optic networks.
