Volvo 13 New Models Target 2030 as EV and Hybrid Lineup Expands

Swan.my.id - Jakarta, Volvo plans to introduce 13 new models by the end of 2030 as the company expands its electric vehicle and hybrid lineup. The program will include products for Western markets and China.

The announcement followed the introduction of updated versions of the XC40, EX40, EC40, and XC60. Volvo also revealed new plug-in hybrid powertrains for the XC60 and XC90, offering an electric-only driving range of up to 124 miles, or 200 kilometers.

The planned expansion signals a broader product strategy for the Swedish automaker. Besides adding more electrified vehicles, Volvo is considering new segments, including the possible return of a station wagon model.

Volvo 13 New Models Will Target Two Market Groups

Of the 13 planned models, seven will be aimed at Western markets, including Europe and North America. The remaining six models will serve the Chinese market.

This regional approach reflects Volvo’s plan to tailor its products to different customer needs. The company has identified region-specific offerings as one of four key pillars behind its product offensive.

The other pillars include leadership in electrification, unique synergies with Geely, and a broader customer offering that goes beyond the car itself. Volvo has not disclosed detailed specifications for each future model.

EVs and Third-Generation Hybrids Take Center Stage

Volvo aims to double its market share by introducing more electric vehicles while continuing to offer third-generation hybrids. The strategy is designed to serve customers who are not yet ready to fully switch to electric mobility.

Plug-in hybrid technology will remain an important part of the transition. The latest XC60 and XC90 powertrains can deliver up to 200 kilometers of range in pure electric mode, giving customers another option between conventional engines and fully electric vehicles.

Hakan Samuelsson, Volvo’s president and CEO, said the company’s retail network would look significantly different in 2030. “Showroom kami akan terlihat sangat berbeda pada tahun 2030,” he said, as quoted by Carscoops.

A Broader Ownership Experience

Volvo also plans to strengthen the ownership experience through regular over-the-air software updates. These updates are expected to support the company’s approach to connected vehicles and continued product improvement.

In addition, Volvo wants to make the purchase process easier and more transparent. The company mentioned special offers and fast-delivery model variants as part of that effort.

These changes place the future product range within a wider strategy. Volvo is not only preparing more EVs and hybrids, but also adjusting its sales approach and digital services to support customers throughout ownership.

Possible Return of the Station Wagon

One of the most notable elements of Volvo’s future lineup is the possibility of a station wagon returning to the range. The company described the segment as part of a potential expansion into new vehicle categories.

However, Volvo has not confirmed the model’s name, launch timing, or technical details. For now, the station wagon remains an indication of the company’s intention to broaden its product portfolio.

With 13 new models planned through 2030, Volvo is preparing a lineup that combines regional products, electric vehicles, and next-generation hybrids. The strategy also leaves room for familiar body styles to reappear as the brand reshapes its future range.
