Swan.my.id - Jakarta, Google is reportedly preparing the Fitbit Edge smartband, a fitness tracker rumored to pair an oval color display with built-in GPS and support for both iPhone and Android. Leaked images and reports suggest the device could become a successor in spirit to the Fitbit Charge line.
The reports arrive as Google’s midrange Fitbit tracker lineup has gone without a new Charge model since the Charge 6 launched in 2023. The Edge could fill that gap alongside the screen-free Fitbit Air and the display-equipped Fitbit Inspire 3 and Charge 6.
Google has not officially announced the device, its release date or its price. However, reports point to an October introduction, while the leaked details describe a tracker focused on fitness features rather than a full smartwatch experience.
Fitbit Edge smartband may work with iPhone and Android
One reported advantage is cross-platform compatibility. Unlike the Pixel Watch 5, which runs Wear OS and is limited to Android users, the Fitbit Edge is expected to connect with iOS as well as Android. That could make it an option for iPhone owners seeking a Google-made fitness tracker.
The color screen reportedly supports notifications and selected Google services, including Google Maps, YouTube Music and Find My Phone. Users may also be able to control media and music playback from their wrist. However, reports say the device will not include a full app store, so more complex tasks would still rely on a connected smartphone.
Built-in GPS and fitness tracking are among the reported features
Leaked details point to built-in GPS for tracking outdoor activities, an altimeter for measuring elevation and automatic tracking for different types of exercise. The reports also claim the tracker could last up to seven days on a single charge. Google has not confirmed these specifications.
The oval display would distinguish the Edge from the more rectangular design of the Charge 6. Images described in reports also show elongated buttons on both sides and a pinch-style band release at the back. The rumored color options are Obsidian, Olive and Canyon. Olive and Canyon reportedly use two-tone frames, with Canyon paired with a gold-colored edge.
Expected price and launch timing remain unconfirmed
Reports estimate a price between $149 and $199, or about Rp2.3 million to Rp3.1 million. That range would place the Edge above the entry-level Fitbit Air, listed at $99.99, and around or above the Charge 6, listed at $159.95. The Pixel Watch sits in a more expensive smartwatch category, though no Edge price has been confirmed by Google.
The reported October launch would put an announcement close, but the exact date and availability remain unknown. Until Google shares official details, the design, features, price and timing should be treated as unconfirmed reports.
If the leaked information proves accurate, the Fitbit Edge could give Google’s tracker lineup a new midrange option with a color screen, integrated GPS and essential Google services. Its expected support for iPhone as well as Android may also broaden its appeal. For now, prospective buyers will have to wait for Google to confirm whether the device is real and when it might go on sale.
