Swan.my.id - The Mitsubishi New Xforce petrol variant remains part of the lineup as the compact SUV gains a hybrid option. Mitsubishi Motors now offers the New Xforce in Exceed, Ultimate, and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) grades, giving buyers a choice between a conventional engine and electrified technology.
The HEV sits at the top of the range, while the petrol-powered versions continue to serve drivers who prefer familiar refuelling and everyday operation. The two powertrain paths reflect different customer needs rather than a move to replace the existing models outright.
Why Mitsubishi New Xforce petrol remains available
Mitsubishi believes petrol-powered SUVs still have appeal in Indonesia, particularly among people buying an SUV for the first time. For these drivers, a conventional engine can feel easier to understand because it does not require adjustments to an electrified driving system.
Atsushi Kurita, president director of PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI), said the company remains optimistic about demand for the petrol New Xforce. He also said improvements to the latest model can deliver a better driving experience than its predecessor. His comments were reported on Monday, October 12, 2026.
The petrol models use a 1.5-litre MIVEC engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Mitsubishi positions this combination for daily mobility, with no need for drivers to adapt to hybrid operation or change their usual fuel-refuelling routine.
That familiarity may matter to buyers weighing their first SUV. Petrol remains a well-established option for motorists, while the New Xforce adds SUV characteristics and driver-assistance features to the conventional powertrain.
Practical dimensions and driver support
Ground clearance measures 222 millimetres, a figure that can help when the vehicle encounters uneven road surfaces, speed bumps, or rough sections. The SUV is about 4.39 metres long, balancing a substantial road presence with dimensions intended for urban use.
For parking and tight manoeuvres, a Multi Around Monitor helps drivers check the surroundings of the vehicle. This feature can be useful in confined spaces, where judging nearby obstacles from the driver’s seat may be difficult.
The petrol New Xforce also includes several stability and safety support systems. Active Stability and Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, and Blind Spot Warning paired with Lane Change Assist are among the listed features. Together, they support drivers in a range of common road situations, although they do not replace attentive driving.
Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia brand ambassador Rifat Sungkar described the update as a focus on product refinement, efficiency, and value. He said the vehicle’s appeal is not limited to power output; efficiency, competitive pricing, a proven engine, and spare-part availability also matter to prospective buyers.
Three grades, including the new HEV
The range comprises Exceed, Ultimate, and HEV. Exceed and Ultimate retain the internal-combustion engine, while HEV brings hybrid technology to the top position in the New Xforce family.
Ultimate and HEV receive a collection of premium-oriented equipment. These include Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium, a power tailgate, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, wireless phone charging, ambient lighting, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
These additions focus on convenience and cabin experience for drivers and passengers. Buyers comparing the grades can therefore consider both their preferred powertrain and the equipment offered, rather than treating the choice as one based on engine technology alone.
New Xforce prices in Jabodetabek
The listed on-the-road prices for Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi are:
- New Xforce Exceed: Rp388 million
- New Xforce Ultimate: Rp399 million
- New Xforce HEV: Rp460 million
The figures apply to the Jabodetabek area. The price difference between grades accompanies differences in equipment and powertrain, with HEV positioned above the two petrol choices.
Choosing between petrol and hybrid
Keeping the petrol versions gives Mitsubishi an option for motorists who value familiar daily use, while the HEV provides an electrified alternative within the same model family. Neither choice suits every driver automatically; the decision depends on preferred technology, equipment priorities, and budget.
For buyers considering a first SUV, the petrol New Xforce offers a conventional 1.5-litre engine, CVT transmission, and practical driver-support features. Those who want hybrid technology can instead look to the HEV, which shares the lineup with the Exceed and Ultimate.
By maintaining both types of powertrain, Mitsubishi gives customers room to choose according to their driving preferences. The New Xforce range now spans familiar petrol operation and a hybrid option, while retaining a common focus on everyday mobility, comfort, and utility.
